The Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) today has set a deadline for the state Government to start actual payment of the pending bills of its members from November 20 onwards while also setting a deadline of November 15 for completion of the process of re-verification of the bills by the Departmental Technical Expert Committee and the State Level Committee.

Interacting with this correspondent after a general meeting of the NCSU at its headquarters here today, NCSU President Pele Khezhie said whereas the NCSU has kept its third phase of agitation in abeyance since September 20, following assurance by the state Cabinet and also by Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar and intervention by apex Naga organizations including the Naga Hoho, NSF and NMA whereby the Union was assured that the pending bills of the NCSU members would be cleared once the process of scrutiny or re-verification was completed.

However, while the process of scrutiny and re-verification of the pending bills is almost complete thanks to the active cooperation and support of the office bearers of the NCSU district units, the departmental technical committees and the state level committee, which have been entrusted with the job by the state Government, are not giving proper attention to this important matter, Khezhie said.

Maintaining that time is running out and in view of the situation where the NCSU members are rightly impatient, Pele the dynamic, young leader of the NCSU, said taking this into consideration, the NCSU, has, in today’s meeting, unanimously resolved to submit a representation to the Chief Minister.

The representation, addressed to the Chief Minister, demanded that the process of re-verification be completed by November 15 and that actual payments be started promptly from November 20 onwards.

Further, the representation warned that in the event of failure on the part of the departmental technical expert committees and the state level committee to complete the process of re-verification and make payment of pending bills, these committees will be held responsible.
