Control Room activated for Koridang Bye-Election: CEO

Kohima, March 26 (MExN): The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland has informed that the control room in connection with the bye-election to the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency has been activated. According to the notification, queries related to election matters as well as complaints regarding violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) can be communicated through the toll-free helpline number 1950. The CEO further stated that the State Control Room can be contacted at 8787725554, while the District Control Room numbers are 8787890205 and 03692-225015.

2nd randomization of EVMs, VVPATs on March 27
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland has informed that the second randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units for the bye-election to 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency will be conducted on March 27.

According to a press note issued by the CEO, the second randomization will be carried out by the Returning Officer using the EVM Management System (EMS) developed by the Election Commission of India. The process involves the random allocation of EVMs and VVPATs to polling stations.

The preparation of EVMs and VVPATs for use in the bypoll is scheduled for March 30.

The CEO stated that the processes of randomization and preparation will be conducted in the presence of contesting candidates or their representatives. It added that lists of EVMs and VVPATs allocated polling station-wise, along with reserve machines, will be shared with all contesting candidates.

“These EVMs and VVPATs only will be used in allocated Polling Stations on poll day,” the press note stated.
