DIMAPUR, JANUARY 25 (MExN): The Core Committee of the Apex Tribal Hohos of Nagaland has called upon all political parties and intending candidates for the upcoming Nagaland polls to “truthfully display their Naga patriotic sense to create space and a conducive atmosphere by abstaining from involving in the electioneering processes and filing of nominations to contest as candidates.” A joint statement from the Angami Public Organisation and the Chakhesang Public Organisation informed that this appeal is being made after a meeting on January 24 held at the Commissioner’s Circuit House, Kohima as continuance of its series of meetings that have started since early 2017 after the crisis over the conduct of elections to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Nagaland. The meeting discussed the “present socio-political situation with regards to the ongoing Naga Peace Talks between the Government of India and the Naga National Political groups.” It expressed the “desire of the people of Nagaland that during this ongoing Naga Peace Talks for an acceptable solution, conduct of the state election to the 13th Legislative Assembly of Nagaland is not felicitous.”
