With the State Government yet to respond to the three-point demands submitted on August 9 and the notification to set up a Reservation Review Commission, the five tribes under the Committee on Reservation Review Policy (CoRRP) have set September 30 as the deadline for constituting the long-pending Reservation Review Commission along with Terms of Reference.
At a joint meeting held today resolved that failure to meet the deadline would compel the third phase of agitation in the form of an indefinite total shutdown from October 1.
CoRRP Convenor Er Tesinlo Semy said they will write to the government giving a 10-day time to set up the Commission. Stating that it's been 100 day, since the government was notified to set up the Commission, Semy said that the CoRRP will impose indefinite total shutdown from October 1 if the government fails to do so.
CoRRP Secretary GK Zhimomi recalled that the decision to form the Commission was an outcome of the June 3 meeting headed by the Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton. This, he said was not a demand of the CoRRP, and reminded that the government had agreed in principle to set up a Commission on June 12.
"The government, for reasons best known to them kept delaying the formation of the Commission. They heaven assured to set up the Commission within a month and its 100 days today," stated Zhimomi.
CoRRP also reiterated that CSOs has no business to be part of the Commission.
