DIMAPUR, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) has criticised the outcome of the Nagaland State Cabinet meeting held on August 6 over the Backward Tribes (BT) reservation issue, calling it a “repetition” of its earlier decision on June 12 and accusing the government of ignoring their core demands.
In a press release issued from its camp office in Dimapur, the committee stated, “The outcome of the State Cabinet meeting on 6th Aug 2025 on BT Reservation issue is a repetition of their 12th June 2025 meeting. It has chosen to ignore our core demands and has rather went ahead with the composition of the Reservation Review Commission which includes CSOs in the form of CNTC, ENPO and TUN.”
The committee also took strong exception to remarks made by the government spokesperson during the media briefing. “The partisan attitude of the Government Spokesperson in justifying 48 years of indefinite reservation policy and throwing up wild imaginary figures in govt employment as well as interlinking Reservation Review Commission outcome with next census while briefing the media has only added insult to our movement,” it stated.
The press note, signed by Convenor Er Tesinlo Semy and Member Secretary GK Zhimomi, further informed that the 5 Tribes CoRRP will be convening a joint sitting with the five apex tribal bodies to decide on the “next course of action.”
