Dimapur, December 10 (MExN): The village council of Industrial Village Razhuphe today said to “reclaim” lands from “unauthorized encroachers” as well as those occupied by various departments of the government, without valid land deed (“patta”). The village’s council said “no individual” or “government department” would be allowed to occupy any portion of the village’s land without obtaining a valid land deed.
A note from the village’s council today said several notifications have been served to all individuals, departments and ‘agencies’, occupying lands within Razhuphe, to collect “village patta” from the village’s authorities. This was to be done on or before June 30, 2005 and as published in the local dailies. The latest notification was published on October 12, 2007. This, the council said, was notified on the basis of orders from the Guwahati High Court. The council said the “village patta” shall stand “valid” on “village land in Nagaland” and “not by the government patta/jamabandi”.
The council said the government departments and “its agencies” who occupied pockets of the land did not “give heed” and failed to collect the “village patta” within the stipulated time. Instead, many departments and “its agencies” raised “pucca fencing” in “violation of the high court orders” and “threatening the ownership rights of the traditional land owner without any color of authority”, the council claimed. For this matter, these departments’ and “agencies” land are being reclaimed by the village authority and being allotted to “landless Nagas” and “rightful applicants”. Individuals or government department or “it agencies” in concern are asked to appeal within 15 days time from the publication of the village’s note.
