COVID-19: Nagaland’s daily positivity rate at 11.52%

Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): As the ‘Unlock 3’ phase begins in Nagaland, 106 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from eight districts on Sunday, taking the state’s cumulative tally of COVID-19 infections to 26,682. The new cases were detected from 920 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours with a daily positivity rate of 11.52 percent. 

According to the daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), the new cases were reported from Dimapur (39), Kohima (33), Mokokchung (15), Phek (7), Longleng (6), Peren (4), Tuensang (1), and Wokha (1). A total of 52 new cases were detected among traced contacts, 26 new cases were detected during self tests and random tests, 15 from returnees/travellers, 8 from armed forces/security personnel and 5 from front line workers.

The COVID death toll in the state rose to 514 on Sunday as four more deaths were reported from Kohima (2), Dimapur (1) and Mokokchung (1).  Besides the COVID-19 related deaths, a total of 14 deaths were categorised as ‘not COVID-19 related’ in the IDSP bulletin. 

On the other hand, 56 patients who had previously tested positive for the virus recovered on Sunday, taking the number of recovered cases to 24,261. The recoveries were reported Mokokchung (15), Dimapur (11), Wokha (10), Kohima (6), Peren (5), Kiphire (4), Phek (3), and Longleng (2).  

With this, the active case count in the state now stands at 1,149.

District wise status
Among the districts, Kohima has the highest number of active cases at 400, followed by Dimapur with 295 and Mokokchung with 232. Tuensang district has 36 active cases, Longleng (35), Wokha (33), Kiphire (27), Phek (25), Zunheboto (25), Mon (22), and Peren (19).

For data reporting, Noklak district comes under the Tuensang district as there is no separate surveillance unit for Noklak.

In terms of severity of cases, 921 active cases were asymptomatic, 178 were mild symptomatic, 22 were moderate on oxygen, 15 were severe on oxygen, 7 were in ICU (without ventilator) and 6 were in ICU on ventilator, according to the IDSP.

The bulletin also stated that 79 active cases were currently admitted in COVID Hospitals across the state and 1,012 were under home isolation as of 5:00 pm on July 18.
