COVID: Nagaland registers 34 new cases, 1 more death

Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): The cumulative caseload of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland rose to 31,119 with 34 new confirmed cases on Saturday. The new cases were detected among 1,387 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, returning a daily positivity rate of 2.45 percent.

The new cases were reported from four districts— Dimapur (26), Kohima (6), and Mokokchung (2). A total of 24 cases were detected through self tests and random tests, 9 from returnees/travellers and 1 from traced contacts, according to the daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.

The state also reported 1 more death from Dimapur, taking the total COVID death toll to 647. This excludes the 15 other deaths that were classified as ‘non COVID deaths (with COVID positivity),’ in the bulletin.

On the other hand, 34 patients of which, 30 were from Dimapur, 1 from Kohima, and 3 from Mokokchung, recovered from the disease on Saturday. With this, the number of recoveries in the state rose to 29,014.

According to the bulletin, there are currently 465 active cases in the state out of which 365 are asymptomatic. A total of 80 cases are mild symptomatic and 5 are moderate on oxygen. Among the cases with severe symptoms, 8 are receiving oxygen support, 5 are admitted in ICUs without ventilator and 2 are said to be in the ICU on ventilator support.
