Chümoukedima, July 15 (MExN): The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) will hold a peaceful rally on July 17 to protest against the non-acknowledgement of traditional landowners and the state government’s alleged inaction over the ongoing dispute with Maova Village, the organisation said on Wednesday.
The rally, scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM at Jharnapani (New Medziphema), will see participants assemble for a brief programme at the Peren-NU Medziphema Campus road junction before marching to the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Medziphema, where a memorandum will be submitted to the government.
The CPO, asserting its position as the traditional landowners, said it “remains firm and resolute in its stand and will not compromise on any of our ancestral rights.” The rally is also intended to remind Maova Village of the organisation’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its traditional claims.
The CPO appealed all tribal bodies and all right-thinking citizens to participate in the peaceful protest rally and support in “amplifying the voice of the Nagas in safeguarding our ancestral rights, which are being threatened at this critical juncture.”
