•-I refer this to Mr Kaka D Iralu’s “response to FNR’s call for criticism and suggestions”. I am totally bereft of any bad feeling against Mr Kaka. Rather, this is a feeling from my contrite heart. Let me begin like this: “The representatives of the Naga underground organizations conveyed, of their own volition, to accept, without condition, the constitution of India.”
The representatives were not automated or manufactured; they were representatives of NNC. They represented FGN. They could have walked out, for the love of the Nagas and their history, even if LP Singh hard pressed them to accept Indian constitution. They did so ‘under duress’ does never qualify reason.
We do need scaffolds in the process of building; it does, nevertheless, not mean that they are more important than the building itself. All this cost of tumultuous and stupendous maneuver having now caused to evolve a strong political structure such as ours today should never be brought down to ground zero just for the sake of those signatories under NNC. Who can deny Nagas’ resilience under NNC until 1975.
The difference between Nagas then and now is that the proposed ‘Naga National Government’, as I do believe, is now totally outside the range of Indian constitution while the former was ‘without condition’ inside Indian constitution. Is this a crime to reject the constitution of India by virtue of Nagas being not Indians? Is this sinful to bring down the scaffolds having Naga political building built? The old Nagas give us history that is not part of Indian Union. Today’s Nagas likewise can never own up the future for the sake of what they have achieved today.
