Parliamentary Secretary Pangyu Phom with the farmers of Hukpang Village during his visit on September 10.
Dimapur, September 10 (MExN): In order to personally verify the reported crop damages in Hukpang Village under Longleng district, parliamentary secretary RD & REPA Nagaland S. Pangyu Phom visited the village on September 10.
He was accompanied by the DC Longleng, SP Longleng and a host of other public leaders of the district. They visited the paddy field and found that the fully ripened paddy crops were completely damaged by hailstorm leaving noting to harvest. The damaged crops, stretching over a large area of paddy (jhum) filed, specially belonging to two Morung of the village, were completely damaged and noting remains for harvest, reported a press note issued by DC Longleng, K Libanthung Lotha.
In this regard, the villagers requested the visiting parliamentary secretary to take up the matter with the government and extend relief to the victim since the livelihood of the villagers have been rendered helpless by the calamity as there is no harvest for the whole years. The parliamentary secretary personally met the effected victims and extended immediate relief of rice and cash. He also assured them that he will take up the matter with the government for grant of relief.
The DC Longleng meanwhile, extended gratitude to the parliamentary secretary for taking personal care of the villagers in times of their distress and need and also for the immediate relief granted to them.
