Cross border meet calls for sharing of info

Coordination meeting between Karbi Anglong & Dimapur District Administration held at Dimapur

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 11 (DIPR):  To maintain long lasting peaceful co-existence and to contain unlawful activities in the adjoining areas as the two Districts has proximity to each other, the counterpart of District administration and police official’s Karbi- Anglong (Assam state) and Dimapur (Nagaland state) held a coordination meeting at Dimapur on August 11, 2012.

Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, N.Hushili Sema IAS, while welcoming officials from the both the districts said that a timely meeting such as this is an “exercise on confidence building and would assist on information sharing to maintain peaceful coexistence in the bordering areas”.

Deputy Commissioner Karbi Anglong P.K Buragohain, acknowledged that with regard to border issue, it was “insignificant” unlike other neighboring districts, as there was “clear boundaries”. However, joint efforts like this would assist both the administration on tackling drug traffickers, child traffickers and cross border criminals etc, the DC said.

During the discussion both teams acknowledged the importance of strengthening information sharing down to the level of field officers (O.C’s) and also at the existing border check gates and  reconstruction of bridge at old Golaghat road (veterinary road) for better connectivity. 

The joint meeting was attended S.P Dimapur V.Z Angami, ADC Dimapur. Sedevikho Khro, Adl.SP Watichuchang, S.P Karbi Anglong B.P Chetri, SDPO Subashish Baruah and other officials of both District administration and police force.
