Dimapur May 19 (MExN): The North East Students Organization (NESO) terming the BSNL’s Nagaland cellular service as “worst” and “absolutely abominable” in the NE, has reiterated on its earlier warning given to the telecom operator that on failure to address the worsening network problem, as assured last year on 30 December, the students organization would be forced to take up an even more aggressive and vigorous agitation.
Sharing the concern of BSNL cellular service consumers that mobile network congestion is worsening by the day, the NESO reminded the operator that assurances to address the problem by March 2006 were given in a meeting with the NESO, Naga Students Federation (NSF) and the Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) on December 30 last year. “However things seem to be going from bad to worse. There is frequent breakdown of cellular service ranging from an hour to hours.
It may also be taken for serious attention that the cellular service of the BSNL is the worst in Nagaland compared with the whole of NE in particular and the whole of India in general” a strong statement from Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya, Chairman and NSN Lotha, General Secretary said.
Terming it an act of discrimination, the NESO held the General Manager of BSNL Dimapur solely responsible for the difficulties faced by consumers for which, the organization said, the GM cannot shy away from.
“It is a matter of fact that many GMs posted in Nagaland is not by choice but by compulsion or a form of disciplinary postings to a dishonest officer of the BSNL” the NESO maintained adding that Nagaland unfortunately continues to suffer under such treatment of the corporate office of the BSNL, Delhi. It is high time that the state government of Nagaland also take the matter seriously and play its part with the concern union minister, it added.
The organization also, reminding of the latest total breakdown of the BSNL cellular service from the early morning of May 18 till the afternoon of the 19th –stretching more than 39 hours –termed the “action” of the BSNL as “absolutely abominable” and for this reason they should tender a public apology.
“The NESO vehemently warns the BSNL that if such network problems continues much against the agreed principles of the 30th December 2005 meeting, the NESO will be compelled to take up the suspended agitation against the BSNL more aggressively and vigorously” the organization made it clear.
