Chümoukedima, September 25 (MExN): The 173 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised a Civic Action Programme (CAP) at its B/173 Bn company location at the Referral Hospital Campus, 4th Mile, Chümoukedima, on Friday, aimed at providing essential utility support to households and strengthening police-public relations.
Seyiesezo Peseyie, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), attended the programme as the chief guest, while Head GB Kekhwetsu Khutoh of Diphupar Village and Head GB Mase Vero of Naga United Village were the guests of honour.
The programme began with a welcome address by Akai Sumi, Assistant Commandant and OC, B/173 Bn, who highlighted the objective and significance of the Civic Action Programme in addressing grassroots needs and fostering trust between security forces and local communities.
During the programme, the chief guest and guests of honour distributed solar lamps and essential food condiments to beneficiaries.
The distribution directly benefited more than 100 individuals and underprivileged families from neighbouring villages, providing them with lighting solutions and daily household provisions.
The dignitaries commended the leadership and personnel of 173 Bn CRPF for their continued community service beyond their core security duties and appreciated their role in promoting peace, goodwill and mutual cooperation in the region.
In Dimapur, the 173 Bn CRPF, under the guidance of Commandant Ashok Kumar Yadav, extended humanitarian relief assistance to 150 fire-affected families of Kuda Village on September 25.
The relief distribution programme was organised to provide immediate assistance to households that lost shelter and essential belongings in a fire incident on September 23.
Withuiliu Newmai, Assistant Commandant, F/173 Bn CRPF, led the relief distribution programme and interacted with the affected families.
She conveyed the Force's solidarity with the affected community during its recovery and rehabilitation.
As part of the humanitarian assistance, ration bags containing rice, dal, onions, potatoes, milk and edible oil were distributed to the affected households to meet their immediate food and essential requirements.
Stationery items were also distributed among children to support their educational needs and enable them to continue their studies despite the adversity caused by the fire.
Local residents and village representatives expressed gratitude for the timely assistance and support extended by the 173 Bn CRPF.
The CRPF said the initiative underscored its commitment to community welfare, humanitarian service and strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation between the Force and the local population.
