CTPF seeks independent admin officer at SDO (C) office Chessore

CHESSORE, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The Chessore Town Public Forum (CTPF) has submitted an application to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, urging the immediate posting of an independent charge of an Administrative Officer at the SDO (Civil) Office in Chessore town.
In its representation, the CTPF stated, while acknowledging the efforts of the current Administrative Officer-in-charge, maintained that a dedicated and independent charge would be “more efficacious in addressing the complex administrative needs of our community.” It noted that Chessore town has been functioning with an Administrative Officer-in-charge posted at the district headquarters in Shamator, which it described as a “makeshift solution.”

“Chessore is also one of the oldest town in Nagaland. In addition, Chessore Administrative Officer covers 28 villages,” the representation said. It said that the absence of an independent charge has resulted in “significant difficulties, particularly in the implementation of government developmental activities, survey of construction sites, and various government schemes.”

According to the CTPF, “The lack of an independent charge of Administrative Officer has led to delays and inefficiencies in the delivery of administrative services, which has adversely affected the public in our town.” It added that developmental projects and surveys of construction sites were being delayed or handled inefficiently, leading to “inaccurate assessments and delayed completion of projects.”

The Forum also cited accessibility issues. “Moreover, the public in our town faces immense difficulties in accessing administrative services, particularly during the rainy season when the roads are frequently disrupted by landslides,” it said. “The compulsion to travel to Shamator for even minor administrative approvals or official work poses significant risks to life and limb, especially when roads are being swiftly swept away by landslides.”

The CTPF asserted that the appointment of an independent Administrative Officer would ensure that administrative services are readily available to the public, enhancing governance and efficiency.

In its plea, the Forum called for immediate posting of independent charge of an Administrative Officer at the SDO Office in Chessore. “This would not only ensure timely and efficient delivery of administrative services but also provide a much-needed boost to the welfare of the public in our town.”

The representation asked the state government to take action within this month.
