Chiephobozou, September 23 (MExN): In a significant display of public participation, hundreds of residents joined a Cleanliness Target Unit (CTU) cleaning drive in Chiephobozou as part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2025.

The drive was organised by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Kohima Urban and Rural Division, in collaboration with the Chiephobozou Town Council.

According to a press release from Vibou Seyie, IEC Consultant for PHED Kohima Division, the cleaning activity covered the Chiephobozou Block dumping site, the NH-02 stretch, market shed, park and all constituent wards. Despite adverse foggy weather and intermittent rains, a large number of people turned out to carry out grass cutting and collect substantial quantities of plastic and other waste.

During the drive, truckload of plastic waste was collected ward-wise, while the National Highway-02 stretch, market shed and park, alongside the Stadium were also thoroughly cleaned.

The Chiephobozou Town Council extended support to the Department by providing manpower. Later, a JCB was engaged at the dumping site by the Chiephobozou Town Council, as required, to expand the area of dumping site near the PHED, Plastic Waste Management Unit (PMWU) site.
