The 40th General Conference of the Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) concluded successfully on January 9 at Yezami Village, with the theme “Rising With Vision”, locally translated as “Jukuchho Lono Ikuthu.”
During the conference, newly elected office bearers of the ZRSU for the 2026–2028 tenure were formally inducted. Kitolu S Kibami of Lochomi, former Finance Secretary, was inducted as President, while Tonoka V Zhimo of Natha New assumed office as General Secretary. Tokito Yepthomi of Natha Old was inducted as Vice President, and Toni I Zhimo of Sheyipu took charge as Assistant General Secretary.
Akivi Sumi of Sukhalu was inducted as Programme Coordinator. Bonoka K Achumi of Yezami and Liti V Harkha of Newland were inducted as Cultural Secretaries, while Vito Achumi of Baimho Village assumed the post of Games and Sports Secretary. Viboto P Khuju of Asukhomi was elected Speaker of the Union Assembly.
The conference also witnessed various competitive events. The Best Discipline Award was conferred upon the Lizu Aviqato Students’ Union. In the Men’s Volleyball competition, Yezami Students’ Union emerged champions, while Shoto Students’ Union finished as runners-up. In the Women’s Volleyball category, Sukhalu Students’ Union secured first place, followed by Natha Old Students’ Union in second place.
Sukhalu Students’ Union led the praise and worship sessions for most of the conference. The closing programme featured a bonfire and a performance by the Nalto Boys from the 8th NAP, Naltoqa, Zunheboto.
Cultural and literary competitions were also organised, drawing active participation and adding vibrancy to the event. In the cultural competitions, Natha Old won the Couple Traditional Attire event, followed by Natha New in second place and Lizu New in third place.
In the Fire Making competition, Lochomi secured first place, while Lizu Naghuto and Lizu New secured second and third places respectively. Yezami emerged first in the Spear Kick event, followed by Kawoto in second place and Lochomi in third place.
In the Women’s Yodeling competition, Natha New secured first place, followed by Hekiye and Sheyipu in second and third places respectively. Lizu Naghuto clinched first place in the Men’s War Cry competition, while Lizu New and Natha New secured second and third places respectively.
In the Rhythmic Jump (Women) event, Yezami secured first place, followed by Lizu New in second place and Baimho in third place. Baimho secured first position in the Winnowing competition, while Yezami and Shoto secured second and third positions respectively.
