Rs 1 lakh fine for hunting, Rs 5 lakh for wildfires in Chümoukedima Village
Chümoukedima, October 14 (MExN): In a firm move to uphold ecological balance and public order, the Chümoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) has issued a strict set of directives for all residents and visitors. The society has reiterated its standing resolution imposing a total ban on hunting, fishing, and all other activities that endanger or deplete the flora and fauna within Chümoukedima Village jurisdiction.
Any individual caught hunting will face a penalty of not less than Rs 1,00,000, with the amount subject to increase based on the severity of the offense. Carrying firearms within the village jurisdiction is strictly prohibited. Licensed firearms used for hunting will be confiscated and their cancellation will be recommended, while unlicensed firearms and other hunting implements will be seized and destroyed on the spot.
A stern warning has been issued against starting wildfires, with offenders liable for a punitive fine of Rs 5,00,000 or more, depending on the extent of environmental damage. Legal action will also be pursued as per the law.
The Old Chümoukedima Heritage Village, located near the Highway Bypass, has been declared out of bounds for trekkers, picnic groups, and sightseers after 6:00 PM. This restriction follows incidents of vandalism, defacement of public property and monuments by miscreants, and unfortunate accidents leading to loss of lives. Visitors are urged to maintain cleanliness and dispose of plastic waste responsibly in designated bins.
The CVYS also appealed to all residents and visitors to respect cautionary signboards within the village, including speed limits and the prohibition of underage driving.
Furthermore, in response to increasing incidents of robbery, drug peddling, and public nuisance, loitering within the village jurisdiction without a valid reason after 8:00 PM is now strictly prohibited. Youth volunteers have been instructed to stop and verify the identity and purpose of individuals during these hours. Therefore, commuters and visitors have been requested to cooperate with CVYS volunteers in maintaining law, order, and public safety.
The CVYS, in an appeal signed by President Sedevikho Tsükru and General Secretary Phrochüzolie Visezo, has requested the cooperation of all denizens and visitors in preserving the natural environment, upholding community discipline, and ensuring the safety and dignity of Chümoukedima Village.
