CWA observes annual Women’s Day

‘Family is a Church in miniature’

Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): Catholic Women Association (CWA) of St. Joseph Parish, Chumukedima observed its annual Women’s Day at St. Joseph Church, Chumukedima on August 27. A press note received here informed that the day began with a Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. George, SDB, Director, Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre, 3rd Mile, Dimapur.
During the homily the Main Celebrant reminded the gathering that a family is a Church in miniature. Recalling the life of St. Monica whose feast coincides with the Day, the priest said, “St. Monica, the mother of St. Augustine, changed the heart of her son through her enduring prayers.” “In every family, the mother holds the most important place and her life reflects the life of her children. If she is prayerful, her children would be prayerful. If she is honest, her children would be honest,” he reiterated.
Later, during the input session, Zumchilo Patton, President, All Nagaland Catholic Women Association (ANCWA), delivered the keynote address and said, “The catholic women have a vital role to play in the church, as well as in the Naga society.” To this end, the President also invited all the Women present at the gathering to know and appreciate the Catholic traditions and customs The day also witnessed Choir Competitions based on the Christian hymnal  “Hark the Voice” in various Naga tribal dialects. The traditional attire worn by the women reminded each one that St. Joseph Parish, Chumukedima is a fusion of all the tribes of Nagaland. The day also gave a strong feeling of oneness and solidarity among the various Naga tribes coming together as one family.
Earlier, while welcoming the gathering, Rev. Fr. Sabu Chenackal, Parish Priest, St. Joseph Parish, Chumukedima recalled the life of St. Monica and invited the women to take the former as the role model for their Christian life.
