The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) is all set to conduct 3rd senior & 2nd U-15 Open Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship 2025 under the aegis of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) on November 7 at Pfutsero Sports Complex in Phek district.
The Championship will be conducted on knock- out system.
CWA Open 1st Champion-Kezhavizo Thevo (2019), 2nd Open Champion- Huluyi D. Vadeo (2022), Venuzo Dawhuo, Vemele Thingo, Rukukhotuo Khusoh, Venii Vadeo, Sasiiyi Nyekha, Kiivenii Puro, Thiiputha Hesuh, Atuo Tevo, Meziivil Kiso, Keneiselie Khawakhrie, Mhaneikholie Kuotsu were the among the many top wrestlers to vie for senior category.
Sentilong Imchen from Ao community and Lichumthung C. Kikon from Lotha community will also join the meet.
More than 50 wrestlers have confirmed their participation for senior category.
Addressing a press conference here today at Catholic Centre, Kohima, CWA general secretary Kukhoto Venyo said that although the last date of form submission was on October 25, yet, the entry of wrestlers is still open till November 3 to outside wrestlers for Senior category.
He added that entry for U-15 is still open for interested wrestlers. One can register on Championship’s day.
32 wrestlers will shortlisted on first come first basis under U-15 category.
Nagaland’s forest, environment and climate change minister CL. John will be the special guest while Nagaland’s tourism director Veyielo Doulo will be the guest of honour.
Prize money
Venyo informed that the champion under senior category will be awarded with a cash prize of ₹2 lakh.
The 2nd position will get ₹1.20 lakh while the 3rd & 4th position will be awarded with ₹70,000 and ₹50,000 respectively. Losing quarter finalists will receive ₹10,000 each.
For U-15 boys category, the first and second position will receive a cash award of ₹15,000 and ₹10,000 respectively.
The 3rd and 4th position holders will get ₹7000 and ₹ 5000 respectively.
Losing quarter finalists will receive ₹2000 each.
The prize money for champion and second position under senior category is sponsored by Chakhesang Catholic Association.
The third position is sponsored by Er. Khrotso John Koza, SE, Directorate of Water Resource, 4th position by Medovilie Ladu, Additional Director, Agriculture, 3 quarter finalists by Er. R. Shurhotho Nyusou, JE PWD (Housing) Division No-1 Kohima and other 1 quarter finalist by Liasou Emy Nukhu, Account and Programme Assistant.
The prize money for U- 15 category is entirely sponsored by CWA.
Kezhalelie Keretsii will be chief referee. The referees will comprises; Hiivesii Puro, Zehoto Kikhi, Zaciita Puro, Lhiivenii Phesao, Keneingulie Nagi, Kope Kronu, Khrietuolie Usou and Siirhoneyi Soho.
The jury board will consists Chisazo Dawhuo, Hiikhonieyi Soho and Pozoto Shijoh.
CWA president Vezohii Riiho said that the event will be managed by Chakhesang Catholic Association.

Entry ticket
Rekha Rose Dukru, Convenor, Management Committee said that preparation has already started for the mega event.
We are declaring the whole arena as “no tobacco zone, she said, adding that it will discourage the sale of tobacco products inside the arena.
The management group will also install CCTV for the safety of the audience.
It will also give a lot of importance on waste management.
The management will also make necessary arrangement for parking in town area “so there will not be any traffic problem.”
There will be five categories of entry ticket. Donor Plus at ₹ 5000 (Admit 2) with food package, free parking, tea and snacks. Donor at ₹ 2000 which comes with food package
Chair (2)- ₹ 500 and ₹ 300. Gallery- ₹ 150.
