DIMAPUR, MARCH 19 (MExN): The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) has served a “banishment order” to the Chairman of Maova Village Council; the Head GB and the ex-Chairman from Maova Village in particular and Chakhroma Jurisdiction in general with immediate effect. It further directed them to leave Chakhroma jurisdiction within thirty days from the date of this order.
A press release from the CYO said that it issued an ultimatum to produce the persons responsible for what it termed as the “premeditated attack” on the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) President and colleagues on February 13 and “to come to terms for a peaceful solution among Maova Village and CPO.”
It said that “on the request of Maova Village, CPO had provided ample opportunities to Maova Village leaders on numerous occasions to settle the issue amicably. However, till date Maova village leaders had failed to come to terms with CPO for a peaceful solution.”
“As per Angami customary law and tradition, and in line with Point No. 04 of the Chakhroma standing resolution adopted on April 15, 1945 at Tsiepama Village, it states that ‘Any person who inflicts any physical assault to any of the member of Chakhroma shall not be allowed to live in Chakhroma area’," the CYO stated.
It further said that as per the declaration signed on July 31, 1995 at Medziphema Town, it is clearly stated in clause 6 ‘that in the event of failure to abide by the 1995 declaration by any Kuki individual, group or villages, the violators shall be expelled from the area in the interest of peace and tranquility and to avoid and misunderstanding’."
