CYO, WSYF oppose launch of ‘Western Naga Youth Front’, caution members

Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The Chakhroma Youth Organization (CYO) and the Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) have taken serious note of the proposed launch of the so-called Western Naga Youth Front (WNYF), scheduled to be held on March 14 at Senden Riju, Purana Bazaar in Dimapur.

In a joint press communiqué issued on Friday, the two youth bodies recalled that the Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO) and the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) had earlier adopted a joint resolution on January 17, 2020 restraining members under their respective jurisdictions from forming or affiliating with any other organisation that could be detrimental to the unity, welfare and growth of the society.

The communiqué stated that the CYO and WSYF had subsequently reiterated and upheld the resolution during meetings held on October 23, 2024 and June 21, 2025, while cautioning members against associating with any organisation formed without the knowledge and approval of the parent bodies.

Clarifying their position, the two organisations stated that the proposed Western Naga Youth Front is being formed without the support, consultation or consent of the Chakhroma Public Organization and the Western Sumi Hoho. As such, they said the organisation cannot rightfully claim to represent the youths of the Western Nagas.

Under these circumstances, the CYO and WSYF cautioned all their members not to associate with or participate in the activities of the proposed organisation.

They further warned that any member found defying the standing resolution of the apex bodies would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the established rules and disciplinary measures of the respective organisations.

The youth bodies also strongly denounced the formation of the proposed WNYF and stated that such organisations would not be permitted to function within their jurisdiction.

Reaffirming their commitment to unity and the collective interest of the people, the CYO and WSYF urged members to abide by the decisions and resolutions adopted by the recognised apex bodies.

The joint communiqué was issued by WSYF president Atokiho Sumi and CYO president Meyüzo Mioze.
