DAN fails Rule of Law: Cong

Dimapur, January 26 (MExN): The state Congress says the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland government “needs to be flogged” for failing yet again to ensure Rule of Law in the state.  “The failure of the DAN government to organize public functions to observe the Republic Day in the district headquarters of Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire and Longleng should be taken as a black day in the history of Nagaland state,” the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee stated today.

The Congress took note of the indefinite ‘bandh’ called by the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) “was neither attended to in time nor the government of the day made any attempt to ensure the observance of the Red letters’ Day by enforcing the rule of law.” The situation that arose was due to sheer callosity of the DAN government, the Congress said. “The DAN government has once again failed in its constitutional duty and responsibility. The prevention of the speaker, ministers and parliamentary secretaries to hoist the national flag on the red letters day proved the absence of the popular government and a complete constitutional breakdown in the state,” the opposition said. “The DAN government has no sense of moral responsibility. It needs to be flogged,” the NPCC said.

“Despite the fact that the national flags were hoisted by the government servants in the government offices, lack of public participation in the functions were prominent proving that the DAN government has lost contact with the people.” The opposition calls “national shame” the assembly Speaker, Cabinet ministers and parliamentary secretaries being “repulsed by the people of eastern Nagaland.”  “While the Chief Minister of Nagaland is busy in Manipur the DAN has been rejected by the people in Nagaland. Be it known to all that, should the government of India impose President’s Rule in the State for its failure, the DAN government invited for it,” the party asserted. The NPCC urges the Governor of Nagaland to “discharge his constitutional duty” in the larger interest of the country.
