‘DAN Govt has changed the face of Eastern Nagaland’

AIPONGER VILLAGE, MAY 8 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for IPR, Economics & Statistics, R Tohanba, has said that the NPF-led DAN Government has changed the face of Eastern Nagaland through a slew of developmental programmes and welfare activities.

“In the last 9 years, DAN government has done its best to compensate the developmental gaps in the four backward districts of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire due to negligence by successive governments for the past 60 years,” the Parliamentary Secretary said in his address at the inaugural programme of the newly upgraded Government Middle School (GMS), Aiponger, on Monday.  Tohanba said the developmental activities and programmes by DAN government in the eastern region included creation and upgradation of administrative headquarters and educational institutions, road construction and infrastructure development.

At the same time, he also urged the people of the area to bear with the government as the government cannot make up for many years of negligence of the backward districts at one go.

Citing an instance, the Parliamentary Secretary said that in the past two years, 12 Government Primary Schools have been upgraded to GMS in Shamator-Chessore sud-division alone, which would go a long way in mitigating the plight of village school children walking miles to small towns or other villages to get education.
