DAN sincere to resolve Naga issue: NPF Chief

Kohima: Nagaland People’s Front (NPF) president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu today assured that the DAN government was sincere in its approach towards finding a solution to the Naga political issue. 

Speaking at the meeting of NPF central office-bearers and divisional presidents at Hotel Japfu this morning, Dr. Liezietsu said the party will continue to appeal all sections of the Nagas to refrain from activities that are dividing the people further instead come together in the larger interest of the Naga people "only then the goal can be achieved.”

The Urban Development Minister maintained that the DAN government had brought about wide development in the last three years time fulfilling its promises through the Common Minimum Programme.

“In fact, no government in the past has achieved so much as our government did in the last three years. God willing, we have two more years to complete the present assembly term and we can achieve more when we complete the ongoing as well as new scheme and projects,” said the NPF stalwart adding that all such could be done because of the valuable contribution of party functionaries.

Expressing happiness to government officers for extending full cooperation in the implementation of programmes, Dr Liezietsu claimed that “Indeed, we have set a new trend of work culture in the government.”

The party chief also urged workers to interpret government policies pointing out that the ‘Year of Farmers’ was declared by the government to improve and increase the produce of the farmers.  “The party must ensure that government programmes are implemented successfully so as to enable farmers to harness maximum benefit out of it.”

“This programme to make farmers stand on their own feet will be the foundation stone of the economy of the state,’ he said and further pointed out that from now on, all programme should aim at establishing permanent hold of the economy and welfare of the people. He said that the  opposition was trying to confuse the public “with so many rumors and sometime made people to believed that this DAN government would not last even for a few months and even now, they continue to do so.”

He expressed hope that “our people are not confused because they have seen with their own eyes that this government works for the welfare of the people.” 

Dr. Liezietsu challenged party workers to move ahead with confidence justifying that people are with them and not be swayed by wild rumors since “Rumors are rumors and it will always be there in parliamentary democracy.”

Home Minister  Thenucho and Parliamentary Secretary Doshehe were also present. NPF Vice President Pusazo Luruo highlighted the activities of  the farmers' wing while vice presidents’ Pinyimthung and Huskha Yepthomi delivered the welcome address and invocation respectively.

The meeting also witnessed report from divisional presidents, Women Wing and Youth wing while the progress of the central office building was highlighted by Dr. K. Kath, General Secretary.
