DC Chümoukedima directs registration of coaching centres

Chümoukedima, March 3 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner Chümoukedima has directed all coaching centres operating within the district to apply for mandatory registration by March 31.

The directive is aimed at ensuring minimum standards, safeguard students’ interests, and regulate the functioning of private coaching institutes, stated the order issued by the DC Polan John on March 3. 

This directive follows the Government of Nagaland notification and the “Guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centres in the State of Nagaland, 2025, informed the State DIPR. 

As per the order, any establishment providing tuition, instruction or academic guidance to more than 20 students for study programmes or competitive examinations must register. 

Coaching centres operating multiple branches will be treated as separate entities for registration purposes.

However, institutions engaged solely in counselling, sports, dance, theatre and other creative activities are exempted.

Applicants are required to submit a duly filled registration form along with a verification report from the Area Administrative Officer, treasury challan (Rs 5,000 for registration and Rs 2,000 for renewal), an undertaking by the proprietor and a photograph displaying key details such as tutor qualifications, timetable, fee structure and emergency helpline information.

Additional documents include character certificates of tutors issued by the Police Station, a copy of the prospectus, fire safety certificate, building safety certificate and proof of formation of a grievance redressal committee.

The order further specifies that no student below 16 years of age shall be enrolled unless they have completed their secondary school examination.

Applications are to be submitted to the Development Branch of the DC’s  Office, Chümoukedima. 

The DC has  urged all concerned coaching centres to comply within the stipulated timeline to avoid administrative action, the DIPR stated.
