DC Chümoukedima notice against unauthorized activities in NH-29

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, FEBRUARY 18 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Chümoukedima has issued a notice regarding certain unauthorized activities taking place near National Highway-29. These activities include quarrying, earth cutting, construction work, setting up temporary fruit and vegetable stalls, and other land-related operations, some of which are occurring within the Right of Way (RoW) of the highway.

The notification said these activities pose a serious threat to the structural integrity of the highway and public safety, increasing the risks of soil erosion, landslides, highway blockages, encroachments, subsidence, and potentially fatal accidents.

In light of these concerns, and to protect critical infrastructure and ensure the safety of commuters and the public, all individuals, village councils, and stakeholders have been strongly advised to refrain from undertaking activities that could negatively affect the highway's stability and safety.

While urging full cooperation in preserving the durability of NH-29 and ensuring the safety of all road users, the notification stated that for further information or clarification, individuals may contact the DC Office. Any activity found to compromise the safety or integrity of NH-29 will be subject to legal action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, it cautioned.
