DC Dimapur assures Gorapatti fire victims

Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): K Nzimongo Ngullie Deputy Commissioner Dimapur early today assured to supply relief materials like cooking utensils, clothing, CGI sheets for the victims who were affected by the inferno that broke out at Goraphatti here late Friday night. He assured that the district administration will look into the matter and provide the relief materials to each family that had suffered loss. He said this while visiting the affected area. 

As an immediate relief the district administration headed by the DC gave away 10 (ten) bags of rice to the effected. The Dimapur Municipal Council also donated 10 (ten) bags of rice and 1 (one) bag of dal to the victims. The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the new DMC chairman H. Tovihoto Ayemi, Deputy Chairman DP Angami, S.Vihoto Yepthomi and Yangertoshi, both members of the DMC. 

K. Khekaho Assumi Member DMC of Ward No.2 while addressing the media informed the immediate needs of bamboos and plastic sheets for the construction of temporary shelter for the victims. K. Khekaho donated Rs. 50,000 while Lipok Pongen Member DMC contributed an amount of 2,000 towards the relief committee. 

Meanwhile, a committee has been jointly set up by the Red Cross Society, Lions Club and Rotary Club of Dimapur to provide further relief materials to the victims of the inferno. Till the filing of this report the committee was expected to arrive at the spot with the relief goods. Bharat Sevashram Sangha Dimapur assured that they would provide dinner to the affected families. It may be mentioned that the fire which broke out at Gorapatti destroyed most of the residential area and left 78 families (mostly immigrants’ laborers) homeless.
