PEREN, MARCH 25 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, has instructed all Area Administrative Officers to ensure the strict implementation of the ban on hunting and wildlife trade in accordance with government directives and in the interest of wildlife conservation. Village Councils under their respective jurisdictions have been directed to enforce the ban and impose penalties on violators based on customary practices. As per a report from the DIPR, Meru also emphasized that the Sub-Division Enforcement Committee, led by the Area Administrative Officers and including representatives from the Police and Forest Departments should conduct Motor Vehicle Check Posts (MVCPs) to monitor the sale of wildlife meat. Failure to comply with the directive will result in prosecution under the relevant provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
