DC Wokha issues travel advisory

Wokha, December 8 (MExN): All forms of vehicular movement on National Highway-2 stretch from Zero Point Wokha Town to Hammock Resort will remain closed for 48 hours from December 10 to 12. The restriction will start at 7AM of December 10 and will be imposed till 7AM of December 12. 

A travel advisory issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan informed that the restriction has been imposed in view of the road blockade caused due to deposits of mud and rock debris along the stretch and overhanging boulders from KM 80+300 to KM 80+400 at Soaphen area,in Wokha district.

It is an ‘imminent threat to the life of passerby’ and urgent road clearance work is required to be executed to avert any eventualities, the advisory implied.  

In this connection, all medium and light vehicles travelling on Mokokchung-Wokha-Kohima route were further advised to use diversion route Alichen-Mangmetong-Doyang Reservoir-Wokha “O” Point during the closure period.
