DDMA Wokha reviews monsoon preparedness

Kohima, May 19 (MExN): The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Wokha convened a monsoon preparedness meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Wokha on May 19 to review readiness measures ahead of the rainy season.

According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao, NCS, stressed the importance of early preparedness and highlighted the need to assess the availability of essential commodities such as food grains, LPG, fuel and medicines, besides reviewing the condition of roads and infrastructure across the district.

The meeting discussed the availability of food grains, fuel, LPG and essential drugs, along with the maintenance status of National Highways, State and District roads. Concerns were also raised regarding the NH-2 Doyang land sinking areas, drainage clearance in Wokha and Bhandari towns, and the progress of construction works including culverts and retaining walls.

Preparedness measures related to the Doyang River Dam were also deliberated during the meeting.

As part of the preparedness initiative, a mass social work will be conducted across Wokha district on May 23 to strengthen community preparedness and ensure cleanliness in vulnerable areas.
