DEF Mon clinches overall title at Inter-Departmental Tournament

Mon, March 23 (MExN): The 12th Inter-Departmental Tournament 2026, organised by Officers’ Club Mon, concluded on March 21 at the Officers’ Club, Mon, with Superintendent of Police Kanchan Kumar Kanpal as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering, the special guest expressed gratitude to the organising committee and said such tournaments foster a sense of unity and create lasting memories. He also assured that the police department would extend support in organising similar events in the future.

The overall championship was won by DEF Mon, while DEO Mon secured the runner-up position.

In badminton, L Lokshem from DEF and Chemkhah Y Konyak from 6th NAP emerged winners in the men’s singles category, while YAom B Konyak from Youth Resources and Function and a participant from the District Administration won the women’s singles titles. In mixed doubles, Lima Pongen and Ngonlem from H&FW, and Wakem and Thronlem from DEO secured the top two positions respectively. In men’s doubles, Chemkhah Y Konyak and M Samuel Yim from 6th NAP clinched first place, followed by M Elang Konyak and Sangyumong Ao from 6th NAP.

In carrom, Liyuh from DEF Mon and Meilem from H&FW won the women’s singles, while K Wanghrong from DIET and P Hongjai Konyak from NFES topped the men’s singles category. In women’s doubles, Yeihying and Leye from DEF secured first place, followed by Nepe and Liyuh from DEF Mon. In men’s doubles, Yanao and K Poman from DEF Mon finished first, while M Khongwang Konyak and Manyok L Konyak from the Power Department secured second place.

In futsal, DEO Mon emerged as champions, with DEF Mon finishing as runners-up. In the individual categories, Themrieh from DEO was awarded the Golden Ball, L Akai Konyak from DEO received the Golden Boot, and Atzing from DEF was awarded the Golden Gloves.

The programme was chaired by Rongsennungla Pongen, Assistant Professor at Wangkhao Government College, while the invocation was pronounced by Lipok Pongen, Pastor of Mon Town Ao Baptist Church. Special performances by Yangman Lukhim and a dance by The Humble added colour to the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ajit Kumar, IAS, SDO (C) Mon and Member Secretary of Officers’ Club Mon.
