Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): DEF Wokha in collaboration with All Nagaland Private School Association (Wokha Unit) organised a Run for Unity programme on Friday. In a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police (Wokha), it stated that the event was organized in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It stated that more than 110 students from 12 different schools and 110 personnel representing various units including Police, HG, CD & SDFR, Fire & Emergency Service and allied service came together for this event.
Following the event, it stated that a drug awareness campaign programme was also conducted by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of DEF Wokha along with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha at the Wokha Police Station in the same day.
It stated that the programme was held under the empowering theme ‘Recovery is Possible: Accessing Help, Staying Safe & Reclaiming Life, and that Biren Lotha, Additonal SP, exhorted the participants to embrace a life of discipline and self respect by saying no to drugs.
At the same time, it stated that Lotha emphasized the dangers posed by substance abuse, particularly for youth and urged the community to stand united in fostering a safe and drug-free environment.
Likewise, it stated that he highlighted the role of law enforcement and community partnership in addressing the threat of narcotic substances by encouraging everyone present to make responsible choices for themselves, their families and society at large.
Furthermore, it stated that Lichumo Odyuo, DPO (DAPCU), Wokha, encouraged participants to choose a healthy and positive lifestyle, reminding them that recovery from drug dependence is achievable with the right support.
It stated that Odyuo outlined the many treatment and rehabilitation programmes available through government and community task forces and that he urged any person struggling with substance use to reach out to these support mechanisms without hesitation, assuring participants that help is always available and that no one has to face such challenges alone.
