Delay of bridge construction worries DRFCB

Dimapur, January 2 (MExN): The Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB) in a press note appended by its chairman Hokheto Kiba has requested the concern departments, high authorities and administration to look into the delay of construction bridge at Dhansiri River tributary at Purana Bazar (i.e., Shozukhu – Zukihe village). 

The bridge constructing started in April, 2007. The period of construction was only 24 months. However, the construction of Bridge took almost five years and it is still incomplete and left to its fate by the construction company. Thereby, every year the villagers of Shozukhu and Zukihe village construct temporary road and bridge by digging the river bank causing soil erosion and mostly the vehicles is polluting the water by crossing the river bed which also effects the environment, DRFCB, Chairman, Hokheto Kiba stated in the note.

On the other hand, the said villages are also collect tax on vehicles for road and bridge maintenance. And to which, the public passing through the bridge are suffering with the burden of taxes. The total amounts of collecting taxes by two Villages are as follows: Heavy Vehicle-Rs.150; Medium vehicle-Rs.70; Light Vehicle-Rs.30; Motorcycles-Rs.20 etc.

Therefore, the authority in concern should immediately take action in completing the bridge, for the welfare of the people.
