Dimapur, January 25 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Dhansiripar block conducted demonstration on construction of Zero Energy Cool Chamber, an on-farm rural oriented low-cost substitute of cold storage structure, out of locally available materials like bricks, sand, bamboo, straw and gunny bags on January 19.
Steps involved in construction of the storage chamber and how to operate were shown to the farmers by Moainla, Block Technology Manager, informed a press release received here. 16 farmers attended the programme.
The demo was conducted keeping in view that spoilage of fruits and vegetables can be controlled by reducing the storage system as chamber can keep the temperature 10-15 degree cooler than the outside temperature and maintain about 90% Relative Humidity, the release added.
