Cold conditions persist in parts of North-East
Kohima, January 4 (MExN): Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated places across Nagaland over the next few days, according to the latest All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued Sunday evening .
The IMD bulletin stated that dense fog is expected over Nagaland on January 4, 5 and 6, particularly during night and early morning hours, which may affect visibility in several areas of the state
Similar conditions are also forecast over other parts of the Northeast, including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
While no significant rainfall is predicted over Nagaland during the seven-day forecast period, minimum temperatures over parts of North-East India, including Nagaland, have been reported to be below normal at isolated places.
The IMD noted that there is no major change expected in minimum temperatures over the region in the coming days.
The weather agency has cautioned that dense fog may lead to reduced visibility, affecting road transport and daily movement, especially during early morning hours. People have been advised to exercise caution while travelling and to use fog lights while driving.
However, no cold wave warning has been issued specifically for Nagaland during this period, but prevailing winter conditions are expected to continue across the state.
Meanwhile, in an update on X, the IMD’s Meteorological Centre, Kohima, also forecast dense fog at isolated places across all districts of Nagaland except Dimapur till January 5. However, no rainfall has been forecast during the assessed period up to January 8.
