Deplorable road condition annoys citizens of Changkikong

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Changkikong Senso Mungdang (Changkikong Citizen Union) has expressed dismay over the deplorable condition of the road linking villages and town of Changkikong range of Mokokchung district which includes Changki, Chungliyimsen, Khar, Mongchen, Debuia, Alongkima, Waromung, Yimjenkimong, Molungkimong, Molungyimsen and Molungyinsen-B.
The Changkikong Senso Mungdang in a joint release issued by its president Pangerwati and general secretary Imkongwabang stated that this road is perhaps one of the oldest roads in the state that was surveyed and constructed during the time of British governance and it also represents the road that brought the gospel and education to our state which was navigated by Godhula Brown and Dr. EW lark in the 1870’s.
“Despite its significance and the utter dependence of the inhabitants of Changkikong range on this road, it is sad to mention that the condition of the mentioned road lies at a highly deplorable state restricting the transport and communication,” the Union stated. This has been a chronic problem which despite being highlighted by the people at different platforms has not been heeded.
Urged by the necessity, the Changkikong Senso Mungdang as the apex body of civil society in the range is and will seek resources from various appropriate sources for improvement of this monumental road and thus the plight of the people. “We envisage positive responses from the state government and other competent authorities in the endeavour. We also beseech collaboration from individuals, political parties, NGOs, government departments and village authorities to see the realization of this project without any hindrances. We will not tolerate any individual or groups who try to hamper or sabotage this people’s endeavour,” the Union further added.
