Kohima, August 18 (MExN): Director General Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, visited Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), Kohima on August 18.
During the visit, a press release stated that the DG was briefed on the operational preparedness, security situation and welfare measures for troops in the area.
He interacted with officers appreciating their dedication and professionalism in maintaining peace and stability in the region. The DG emphasised the importance of synergy with local civil administration and security forces to ensure peace and development.
He also commended the initiatives undertaken by IGAR (North), Kohima in fostering goodwill and strengthening the bond with the local populace through various civic action programmes.

Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera also visited the National Integration and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) centres at Chieswema and Ghaspani, on August 17 and 18.
During his interactions, the DG motivated the students to excel in their academic pursuits, inspired them to remain dedicated, and assured them of all necessary support from Assam Rifles. He also took stock of the facilities being provided to the students at two centres, thereby ensuring a conducive environment for growth and development, stated a press release.
The DG emphasised the values of patriotism, service to the nation, and the role of youth as the future torchbearers of the country. He highlighted the importance of holistic development, encouraging students to pursue not only academics but also sports, cultural activities, music and other extra-curricular pursuits for all-round personality development.
He inspired the students to dream big, work hard and contribute positively towards society and the nation, the release added.
