Mokokchung, April 20 (MExN): With an aim to promote family planning in the society, the District Health Society (DHS) of Mokokchung today conducted street plays in different parts of the district in order to educate the people about the availability and advantages of the various birth control methods that can be availed for family planning.
The DHS Mokokchung roped in the help of the Associates of Performing Arts and Theatricals (APAT) of Mokokchung. Today’s plays were carried out at Changki-X Junction (some 39 kilometers away from Mokokchung) and at Sapangya (about 15 kilometers away from Mkg).  Fourteen artistes of APAT performed excellent plays which were witnessed by quite a number of spectators.
The street plays educated the spectators about the advantages of having a small family in contrast to a large family. The plays also educated the people on the availability of two commonly methods of family planning - “spacing method” i.e. the use of condoms, oral pills, IUCD 380-A, emergency contraception; and the “permanent methods” i.e. tubectomy for women and NSV for men.
The District Health Society, Mokokchung is planning to conduct such street plays in the main Mokokchung town areas and also at Changtongya and Tuli towns within the month, said an official of the DHSM.
