A monitoring and district review meeting was held at Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital on April 15, with officials from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, assessing the implementation of healthcare programmes in the district.
The visiting team was led by Dr I Arenla Walling, Director (Dental), who encouraged medical officers and staff to carry out their duties with sincerity and dedication. She expressed hope that the review meeting would serve as an opportunity for reflection, learning, and improvement in the delivery of health services across the district.
During the programme, Medical Superintendent of the District Hospital, Dr Mhonchan N Kithan, and Chief Medical Officer, Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung, presented detailed PowerPoint presentations highlighting the implementation status of various health programmes in Wokha district.
In his address, Dr Mhonchan N Kithan welcomed the visiting officials and provided a brief history of the hospital. He also appealed for the provision of quality medical equipment to enhance healthcare services at the facility.
Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung, meanwhile, pointed out challenges faced by the district, including shortages of manpower in several health units and lack of infrastructure in as many as eleven health facilities. He noted that difficult terrain in certain areas continues to hinder effective health coverage.
Dr Kika Longkumer, Joint Director, emphasised the potential role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in supporting the procurement of medical equipment and urged district health authorities to work in close coordination with the district administration.
Dr Imkongtemsu, Joint Director, highlighted the need to enhance coverage of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in the district.
Following the meeting, the visiting team inspected various departments of the District Hospital, including the ongoing construction of the Integrated Public Health Laboratory.
