Four persons were arrested by the Dimapur Police in connection with a video showing some individuals physically and verbally abusing a woman. 

The Dimapur Police PRO told The Morung Express that the arrested persons- one woman and three men, have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act namely Section 342 (for wrongful confinement), Section 352 (for assault or use of criminal force), Section 354 (intend to breach modesty) Section 509 (criminal intimidation) and section 34 (common intention) and Section 67 of the IT Act for circulating the video after recording (transmitting obscene material).

The arrested persons have been forwarded to judicial custody and further investigation was on.

In the video which went viral, unidentified individuals are seen hurling physical and verbal assaults on a woman and a man. One of the alleged assaulters (a woman) is seen snipping off the hair of the frmale victim.

Taking cognizance of the video and assault, Women Crisis Centre, Sakhi - One Stop Centre had initially filed a complaint at Women Police Station Wokha on September 2 to identify and apprehend the people in the video and take necessary legal course. 

After preliminary enquiry, the incident was found to have occurred in Dimapur after which the FIR was transferred to Dimapur Police. A case was then registered at the Women Police Station.  

The Sakhi- One Stop Centre also said that telephonic counseling was being provided to the victim who suffered physical and mental trauma from the incident.

As per information, the two victims had allegedly eloped. Their families found them in Dimapur, after which they were taken to a house where the assault took place.

It may be mentioned that the main accused included the husband of the female victim and the wife and son of the male victim.
