Dimapur DPDB clears key proposals, reviews census and development agenda

District gets Child Rescue Van 

Dimapur, April 22 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Dimapur, on Wednesday approved several proposals, reviewed preparations for the upcoming Census, and discussed the district’s performance on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during its monthly meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall.

Advisor for Industries & Commerce Hekani Jakhalu, in her address, said the DPDB was not merely a platform for registration of societies but an important institution for governance and development.

She stressed the need for collective functioning, convergence among departments and mutual cooperation for effective administration.

During the meeting, the board approved and recommended registration of the Tsungchir Education Society and the Dimapur Commissionerate Community Alliance for Resilient Empowerment Society (D-CARE).

It also discussed the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) related to change of ownership of Zasisivikho Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School, directing the District Education Officer to submit clarification and verification.

The board further approved and recommended an NOC for establishment of Asian Mission Institute, which plans to offer undergraduate, postgraduate and Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) courses in Arts, Science and Commerce.

Chairing the meeting DC Dr Tinojongshi Chang undated on Census preparations and  informed members that the exercise would be conducted in June and reminded departments to submit names of enumerators. 

He said the process would be app-based and would also provide an option for self-enumeration.

Reviewing SDG performance, he noted that Dimapur ranked 10th among 158 districts in the Northeast region. While describing the achievement as encouraging, he called for further improvement and informed that a review meeting would be held on April 24.

DC also highlighted the importance of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), describing it as a time-bound, house-to-house exercise for updating and verifying electoral rolls. Officers were asked to create awareness and widely disseminate information.

New members Dr. Diana Patton and Khiuzan Kaurinta were introduced and welcomed during the meeting, according to updates on the proceedings issued by the State DIPR.

Earlier, Advisor for Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Excise, and DPDB Chairman Moatoshi Longkumer formally handed over the keys and documents of a Child Rescue Van to Child Helpline 1098 at the DC Office, Purana Bazar, in the presence of Hekani Jakhalu and the Deputy Commissioner.
