Dimapur Flooding: Student electrocuted at home

Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): Several low-lying areas in Dimapur district, Nagaland, were flooded on Saturday following continuous heavy rainfall, disrupting normal life. A final-year college student died after being electrocuted when water entered his home, according to a PTI report. The heavy rain had been lashing the district since Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Imnamoa Longchar, a final-year BBA student at Tetso College in Chümoukedima. Officials said he came into contact with an inverter after floodwaters entered his residence in Diphuphar.

According to family sources, Longchar was trying to unplug the inverter when he was electrocuted amid the sudden flash flooding. His body was handed over to family members after necessary formalities were completed.

Authorities have advised residents to avoid contact with electrical poles, wires, transformers, inverters, and other electrical equipment in or near flooded areas.
