Dimapur, June 27 (MExN): The Dimapur District Excise duty party manning Chümoukedima checkgate, based on specific information, intercepted a vehicle (truck) bound for Imphal, Manipur on June 26.
On frisking the vehicle, the duty party recovered 306 cases of assorted IMFL concealed under several bags of salt, T Arilong Longkumer, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition Dimapur informed in a press release on Sunday.
In this connection, one Abdul Alim (26 years), R/o Hajo in Kamrup, Assam, was arrested under the relevant section of the NLTP Act ‘89.
There has been a recent spurt in the incidence of Imphal bound commercial carriers involved in the illicit trafficking of IMFL consignments and the matter is being investigated, the release added.
