Athletes participate in the Dimapur Junior Athletic Meet 2025 held at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, Kuda Village, on June 14. Selected winners will represent the district at the national junior meet in Andhra Pradesh.

Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): The Dimapur Junior Athletic Meet 2025 was held on June 14 at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School in Kuda Village. Around 70 young athletes from various schools participated in the competition, vying for a chance to represent Dimapur at the upcoming National Inter District Junior Athletic Meet (NIDJAM), to be held in Andhra Pradesh later this year.
Organized under the age-group format, the meet saw strong performances across sprint, middle-distance, long jump, shot put, and triathlon events in both the Under-14 and Under-16 categories for boys and girls. In the Boys’ U-16 category, Moalong Jamir of Greenwood School clinched gold in both the 60m sprint (7.81 seconds) and long jump (4.31 meters), emerging as one of the standout athletes of the day. Alemwati Longchar from New Horizon School also impressed by securing first place in the 600m run (1:43.31) and second place in long jump.
In the Girls’ U-16 events, Neshe Maonyu Ko Konyak from Government Higher Secondary School won the 60m sprint with a time of 8.60 seconds, while Supei S from Government Middle School dominated the 600m (2:00.72) and also placed third in long jump.
Apoang N from Government Higher Secondary School led the Girls’ U-16 field events, taking first place in both long jump (3.52 meters) and shot put (7.42 meters).
The triathlon events saw a clean sweep by host school Pilgrim Higher Secondary in the Boys’ U-14 Triathlon C category, with Seilunlen Hangsing winning with 1171 points. In Girls’ U-14 Triathlon B, Anon M Konyak of Konyak Government Middle School topped the leaderboard with 2011 points.
Winners from each category will advance to represent Dimapur district at the NIDJAM 2025 in Andhra Pradesh. The event is part of a national initiative to identify and nurture young athletic talent from the grassroots level.
