Dimapur: Need to create awareness on ill effect of drugs

Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): To mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Dimapur, a rally cum marathon from DC Court Junction to City Tower was organised by the District Level Narcotics Coordination Committee, Dimapur under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & NCORD Chairperson, Sachin Jaiswal, IAS. 

DC Dimapur said the day is very important for Dimapur and Nagaland as lots of reports were found from the transit borders, a DIPR report stated. ‘Especially the youngsters and the youth should be aware about drugs and substance abuse and for this reason, we are celebrating this day so that the message will be delivered about the ill effect of drugs,’ he added. 

The DC also noted that support should be given to the drug users because there are lot of stigma associated with them and society as a whole should support them and mainstream them back into the society where it should be our responsibility. 

More than 150 participated alongside ADC, EAC, DCP, ADCP, Social Welfare officials, 42 Assam Riffles Jawans, the Police Department, Prodigal Home, NGOs, and Schools, and some colleges like Cornerstone, Dimapur Higher Secondary School, St Mary’s, Ram Janaki, etc
