Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): Prodigals’ Home, in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland Users’ Network  and Dimapur District Users’ Network commemorated the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 under the theme, ‘People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention.’

Speaking on the occasion, Khuizan Kaurinta NCS, EAC Dimapur dwelled on the profound aspects of forgiveness and healing of oneself and called upon the gathering to lighten one’s burden by letting go of all grudges. 

Shikato Zhimo, Welfare Inspector, District Welfare Officer, Dimapur challenged the audience to face life's struggles with grit and unwavering determination and to never lose sight of one's objective and destination.

Avikshe Sema ACP, ADCP West PS while calling for cooperation from all stakeholders to fight against the menace of drug abuse and trafficking, also admitted on the need for sensitization of police personnel on this burning issue.

Earlier, significance of the day was related by T Meren Jamir, Residential Counsellor while a Nagamese cover song on the perils of addiction, sung by the residents, was released by the director of the Home, K Ela. The programme was chaired by Casper Chang with welcome address and vote of thanks given by Sani, Project Director PH and Subotemjen, Coordinator, IRCA respectively.
