Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): The Dimapur Police made a series of arrests and recovered a stolen vehicle over the past few days, Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO Dimapur informed on Wednesday.
On August 30, police arrested two persons—Kuputo (27) and Athrichum Sangtam (27), for extortion and issuing work permits to the non-local labourers at National Highway Chümoukedima. The arrested persons were said to be an Under Secretary, NSCN K (Nikki) and a Dy Secretary NSCN K (Nikki), according to the press release. In this connection, a case has been registered ay Chümoukedima Police Station.
On the same day, the police also arrested Khevisha Kiba (37) and Azheto Kinny (37) while extorting money from truck drivers at Kevijau Colony, Dimapur, and a case has been registered at Dimapur SBN Police Station, the release stated.
In another incident, “two sympathizers of NSCN K (Nikki)” were arrested for extortion and issuing work permits to the non-local labourers at Signal Bazaar area Dimapur. While one of the accused was identified as Vitoka Aye (23), the other was a juvenile. In this connection, a case has been registered at the Dimapur SBN Police Station.
According to the press release, on August 31, the police arrested four persons—Hiniru Poumai (45), Moon Saikia (25), Zenitsu Rengma (49), and Saidul Islam Haiti (46) near the taxi stand in Dimapur. A total of 4,320 Tramadol Hydrochloride Acetaminophen and Dicyclomine Hydrochloride capsules, 25 soap boxes of suspected heroin weighing a total of 300 grams (approximately), were recovered from their possessions and a case has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station, the PRO informed.
Another arrest was made on the same day at Dimapur Railway Station where one Rajesh Thapa (40) was arrested with 4 plastic soap cases containing approximately 55 grams of suspected brown sugar. In this connection, a case has been registered vide Dimapur GRPS, the release stated.
Meanwhile, basing on a written FIR lodged at Dimapur East Police Station, on August 29, a stolen Mahindra Bolero Pick-Up, bearing registration number AS01MC6266, was recovered at Khuzama through GPS tracking.
On informing the police counterpart at Kohima, Khuzama Police recovered the stolen vehicle and apprehended one person namely, Kashing Peter (40), the release stated while adding that a case has been registered at Dimapur East PS. Further investigation is on in all the cases, the release stated.
