Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) has announced its election schedule to appoint a new executive body for the forthcoming term.
The tenure of the current office bearers, which officially concluded in July 2024, had been extended to oversee the club's landmark Silver Jubilee celebration held on December 16, 2024.
In a general meeting held on September 1, the members unanimously resolved to conduct the election. A two-member Election Commission has been appointed to oversee the entire electoral process.
The schedule finalised for the election is as follows: the filing of nominations opens from September 2, 2025, with the last date for submission being September 9, 2025. The election will be conducted on September 10, 2025 at the Conference Hall, E-Space, Dimapur, commencing at 1:00 PM.
Elections will be conducted for eight positions on the executive body: President, Vice President, General Secretary, two posts of Joint Secretary, Information and Publicity Secretary, Finance Secretary, and Treasurer.
The qualifications for contesting the election require that a candidate must not hold any post under a government establishment or any political party, must be an accredited member of the local press, must be serving in any local paper for at least three years, and must be a member of the DPC for a minimum of three years.
