Dimapur: Programme held in honor of FLWs who died in fight against COVID

Ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh handed over to family members

Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): A short programme in honour of frontline workers (FLWs) from Dimapur district, who succumbed to COVID-19 in the line of COVID -19 related duties, was held in the DC’s conference hall, Dimapur on September 18.

Late Kethono Seyie, LDA DC Office, Dimapur, late Amaongtemjen, DB-III, SDO (c) Kuhuboto, late Jabilong Zeliang, Haviladar, 1st NAP Bn, Chümoukedima, late Bangong Yanlem, ASI State Forensic Laboratory, Dimapur and late Seidou Kuki, THC, DEF Dimapur were the FLWs who died due to COVID-19 in the line of Covid duty in Dimapur.

Handing out an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the nearest kith and kin of the 5 FLWs, Dimapur  Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Rajesh Soundararajan stated that, when COVID-19 pandemic surfaced, everyone was equally clueless and no one was prepared to deal with the many uncertainties that came along with it.

However, during such times the health care workers and frontline workers stood up against all odds, risking their own lives for the safety and security of the people, and no amount could compensate the sacrifices they have made, the DC statwd.

He further stressed that such sacrifices by the frontline workers have been made possible because of the strong support from their families. 

The DC said that the ex-gratia given by the government of Nagaland is a token of remembrance and mark of respect for their selfless sacrifices.

The programme was chaired by Rendemo Shitio, Nodal Officer (Disaster Management) Dimapur, and vote of thanks was proposed by Bubu Patric Golmei, District Project Associate, DDMA Dimapur.

The programme was attended by several administrative officers of Dimapur district, close relatives and concerned departmental officers of the FLWs, staff and officers of DDMA, Dimapur.
